The City Kids Teaching and Admin Team

City Kids employs five full-time teachers and one part time teacher. It is City Kids policy to employ teachers or people with a suitable qualification that will enhance the Centres curriculum.City Kids has a policy for professional development and learning which encourages staff to make use of the funding available, courses offered and additional support provided by Early Childhood agencies.

The teaching team's present focus areas are  strengthening Te Reo use, leadership and supporting children's social and emotional competence.  Our five teachers are registered teachers and our support teacher has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika) - level five.  Our centre supervisor also is a registered teacher.

City Kids also employs a full-time cook to make meals fresh for the children each day as well as a part-time administrator and night-time cleaners.

​Tanti - Centre Manager
​Registered Teacher

Tanti joined the City Kids team in April 2022. She has been involved in a wide range of early childhood services and primary school in teaching  and specialist roles.

​Tanti was attracted to City Kids as she believes that the small size of the centre offers the opportunity to focus on high quality and high equity for every learner and member, whether they be child or adult. Outside of work Tanti enjoys traveling, baking, reading, hiking, going for a walk, trying out new food, and spending time with friends and family.

  • Bachelor of Education - Early Childhood Education 
  • Bachelor of Industrial Engineering - First Class Honours
  • NZ Playcentre Association National Certificate – equal to Diploma of Teaching 2018

Ruth - Registered Teacher

Born and bred in South Africa Ruth had the opportunity to live on the west coast of Canada for many years before settling in New Zealand.  With a lifelong background in the Arts  (Ceramics and Weaving /Raranga) she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in ECE at Victoria two years ago to follow her passion of working with young children on a full time basis.

​She is constantly energised and motivated by life through the lens of the young child.  Besides the Arts her interests are the Sciences, our environment and nature based education.  She is very excited to be working at City Kids and to be part of  the team of passionate and like minded teachers.

Reena - Unregistered Teacher
​Reena joined the City Kids Team at the end of May 2022. She has many years experience working in Early Childhood settings in Wellington. 

Reena is a big advocate of serving our tamariki with love.  She thinks it is really important to provide high quality learning experience and build supportive and respectful relationships with the children, whānau, and the team.  

Reena believes that these values create the best foundation that enhances children’s love of learning for their lifetime!

Reena lives in Kilbirnie with her husband, Arjay and their son, Rohan.

Pam - Support teacher / Kaiako (currently on Paternal Leave) 
Pam joined City Kids as a permanent team member in August 2015. Prior to this Pam has been a regular reliever. She was born and bred in Wellington and comes from a big family of 5 siblings. After college she completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika) at New Zealand Careers College.

Pam enjoys building relationships with the children and families at City Kids and likes to watch them as they learn and grow. Outside of work, Pam enjoys relaxing with family and friends and also loves to play Volleyball. Pam is currently on maternity leave and will be back in October 2022.

Tessa - Registered Teacher
Tessa joined City Kids mid 2020. A core part of Tessa's philosophy is supporting and promoting  children’s socio-emotional competencies through deep and nurturing  relationships. This includes helping children in building skills in their emotional  awareness, self-regulation, resilience and social problem-solving.
Tessa has a love of visual art, dance and yoga and she is currently undertaking Spanish classes!  Tessa's passion in learning about different languages and culture is evident as she develops relationships with our tamariki and whanau and shares her learning.

Mary Lynch - Registered Teacher

Mary is from Dublin Ireland, and has spent most of her teaching career working as a Montessori preschool teacher.
After coming to New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa, she fell in love with the country and decided to stay alongside her partner Karl.

Mary really enjoys building strong relationships with children and getting to know them as unique individual learners. Mary has a great love of the Creative Arts and Socio dramatic play this can be seen through the projects she creates with the tamariki.
